"The second coming of Mark Bavaro," was what many people labeled Shockey with when he was selected in the first round back in 2002. Fresh out of Miami University, famed for delivering high profiles professional football players, Shockey certainly fit the bill.
A franchise tight end who will deliver bone-crushing blocks and catch passes over the middle, Shockey lays it all out on the line. His massive 6'5", 260 lb frame can pummel defensive backs, block linebackers, and shed tackles like few other in his position. The young, charismatic tight end from Ada, Oklahoma, will enter 2006 with 4 NFL seasons under his belt and a strong supporting cast.
Shockey will be counted on to lead a Giants team poised after a shutout loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in the NFC playoffs last season.
