Tom Preissing
Ottawa Senators Defenseman
Height: 6'0'
Weight: 205
DOB: 12/3/1978
A native of Rosemount, Minnesota, Tom Preissing lived every Minnesotans dream when he was picked up by the San Jose Sharks as an undrafted free agent after an illustrious career at Colorado College. Preissing played forward in high school for the Rosemount Irish of the Lake Conference, a Twin City Suburban conference that produces several college and NHL prospects each year. Preissing chose to play Junior Hockey for the Green Bay Gamblers, where he made the transition to defense. After two solid seasons with Green Bay, he was offered a scholarship at Colorado College, where he perfected the position and got ready for the next level.
Having played power player and penalty kill with the San Jose Sharks in only his second NHL season, Preissing made a name for himself as a high-scoring potential defenseman and is quickly becoming among the leagues elite players. In an offseason trade, he was sent to the Chicago Blackhawks, and then quickly swapped to the Ottawa Senators, where he will try to crack the top power play unit on the up-and-coming team with young superstars like Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley, and Patrick Eaves.
