Vernon Davis
San Francisco 49ers Tight End
Vernon Davis was chosen with the sixth selection in the 2006 NFL Draft. A big, fast tight end that has been described as the next Antonio Gates, he will be expected to help young quarterback Alex Smith immediately. Davis had a stellar career at the University of Maryland where he proved himself to be one the nation's top tight ends with a stellar junior campaign, his last at Maryland. Davis was selected to the All-ACC and All-American teams. Pulled down 51 receptions for 871 yards, to lead the ACC in receiving yardage. Also had a good season as a blocker, and was the first Maryland player to be named to the first team AP All-America squad in fifty years.
